I have always had a deep appreciation for learning and a passion for sharing ideas with others. My upbringing instilled in me a strong belief in the transformative power of education and the vital role that teachers and administrators play in shaping the lives of our scholars.

As a proud Texas Aggie, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History with a Minor in Coaching. Recognizing the importance of leadership in education, I pursued a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from TWU. I began my career teaching and coaching in Scurry-Rosser ISD before joining the CFB family in 2008. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving students at both the middle and high school levels, holding various positions at Field, Perry, and now here at Newman Smith High School.

I am excited to return to Newman Smith to serve with you all another year! I have served as the campus Behavior Specialist of Trojan Nation for the past two school years. During my time here, I have had the pleasure of working closely with the NSHS Admin Team. I’m honored and thrilled to join the team in the official capacity of Assistant Principal this 2025-2026 school year! This will mark my eighth year in CFBISD. I was previously the BRS at Blalack Middle School for five years before being assigned to Newman Smith, where Dr. Jimenez graciously took me under her wing and helped intensify my passion for serving our scholars.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Government/Legal Studies from TWU. I earned two Master’s degrees from UNT: the first in Special Education (Emotional/Behavioral Disorders), and the second in Education Administration. I hold a Special Education EC-12 certification, as well as a Principal as Instructional Leader certification. I was previously a Special Education teacher in Sanger ISD at the Challenge Program and in Denton ISD at Guyer High School and Braswell High School. I believe that all scholars can learn and retain knowledge as long as we cater to their learning needs.

I lead with a servant heart, empathy, and respect for each individual. I am here to support and serve, so please don’t ever hesitate to let me know how I can help you and your scholars.

My name is Valery Villanueva, and I’m thrilled to be returning to NSHS as an Assistant Principal!  Originally from El Paso, Texas, I spent 10 years as a CTE teacher and department supervisor before moving to Dallas in 2019.  In 2020, Dr. Jimenez welcomed me into the Trojan family, where I continued in my CTE role before transitioning to CCMR Dean in 2021.  While proudly serving as a CCMR Dean, I’ve truly enjoyed helping students explore and prepare for their post-secondary paths.

I’m excited to begin the 2025–2026 school year alongside all of you. I look forward to connecting with each of you, supporting your goals, and contributing to a successful and memorable school year!
