Newman Smith Dance

Dance introduces and deepens the understanding of the vocabulary and practical execution of dance movements specific to ballet, modern, contemporary, improvisation, hip hop, tap, and jazz. Students learn basic anatomy of the body and how to execute movement with proper alignment (posture) in technique class as well as choreography. They are invited to explore creation of movement through improvisation and composition techniques as well as a physical conditioning program that they can pursue throughout their lives. The course provides students with healthy alternatives to non-verbal communication through movement exploration.
