Dance 2 10-12th
This course deepens the understanding of the vocabulary and practical execution of dance movements specific to ballet, modern, contemporary, improvisation, hip hop, tap, and jazz. Élevé Junior Company 9-12th
Élevé Junior Company is the Newman Smith High School's junior varsity performing company. Students are selected through a rigorous audition process each Spring.
The Junior Company was formed in 2021 as a performing modern dance company for the Newman Smith High School Dance Department. Its purpose and focus is to provide more opportunities for dancers seeking more training and performing opportunities.
Gallery in Motion Dance Company 9-12th
Gallery in Motion Dance Company is the Newman Smith High School's advanced performing company. Students are selected through a rigorous audition process each Spring.
The Company was formed in 1995 as a performing modern dance company for the Newman Smith High School Dance Department. The company has performed throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area, such as Brookhaven Community College, Collin County Community College, University of Texas at Dallas, Dance Planet, Imagination Celebration, T.A.H.P.E.R.D. and the Texas Coalition for the Quality if Arts Education and Texas Education Agency Fine Arts Summit in Austin, Texas.
Gallery in Motion has also been selected to perform in multiple showcase concerts for the National High School Dance Festival, which is held in locations such as Long Beach, California, Miami, Florida and Pennsylvania. In 2019, Gallery in Motion performed in New York City with 8and1 Dance Company and other NY dance companies in a collaborative concert.
