Freshman & New Student Orientation Set for August 5th at Newman Smith High School

Newman Smith High School is excited to welcome the Class of 2030 and all new students to campus for our Freshman & New Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 5th 2026. This event is designed to help students and families feel prepared, informed, and connected before the first day of school.

Orientation provides students and parents with an opportunity to meet campus administrators, counselors, teachers, and program representatives while learning about the many academic and extracurricular opportunities available at Newman Smith High School.

Schedule

5:00–6:00 p.m. – Student Schedule Pick-Up
Students and parents may head to the theater to pick up their class schedules before the program begins. 

6:00–6:30 p.m. – Theater Welcome Program
All students and parents will gather in the theater for an official welcome from the Newman Smith administrative team. The program will include important campus information, introductions to key staff members, and performances from our talented Fine Arts programs.

6:30–7:30 p.m. – Parent Meeting & Student Sessions
Following the welcome program:

• Parents will remain in the theater to receive important information regarding academics, graduation requirements, campus expectations, communication, and resources available to support student success.
• Students will participate in interactive sessions throughout the campus to explore the many opportunities available at Newman Smith High School, including:
  • Academies 
  • Fine Arts Programs 
  • Athletics 

These sessions will allow students to meet teachers, coaches, academy directors, and student leaders while learning about the programs and organizations they can become involved in during high school.
