The Troy Report Volume 7, Issue 24

Dear Trojans,

Campus News & Updates

Last week, we completed our Panorama Survey, which provides valuable student voice data regarding campus culture and climate. This information will guide our efforts as we continue strengthening the learning environment at Newman Smith.

We are also currently engaged in TELPAS testing, which will continue through March 13th. We appreciate everyone’s support in helping our Emergent Bilingual scholars feel prepared and confident during this important assessment period.

Upcoming Event – Open House Invitation

We warmly invite all Trojan families to our Open House on Wednesday, March 4th, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. We are partnering with our PTA, local vendors, and leadership teams to create an engaging and informative evening. The event will include:

  • Food vendors outside the theater

  • Principal’s message and Q&A session

  • Teacher meetings and progress reports in the cafeteria

  • Campus programs showcased in the small gym, highlighting student opportunities and activities

We look forward to welcoming you and showcasing the excellence happening across our campus.

Partnering for Student Success

We remain committed to keeping families informed and connected. Thank you for supporting our vision and commitment to the students of Newman Smith High School. Your partnership plays a vital role in student achievement and campus success.

We also encourage parents and guardians to continue conversations with students about campus expectations, including:

  • Attending school daily

  • Wearing their campus ID at all times

  • Arriving in compliance with the CFBISD dress code policy

  • Placing cell phones and personal electronic devices inside backpacks before entering class

Together, we can ensure a focused, respectful, and productive learning environment for all.

With appreciation,
Isaiah Young, Principal
Newman Smith High School
